Three Must See Paris Attractions

For me Paris is one of my favorite city destinations in Western Europe and it is noted for its romantic appeal. It sits on the banks of the river Seine and is also known as the City of Lights. Paris short stays are very popular and for good reason as it makes a superb location for a romantic weekend. The city deserves more than just a weekend. Try to schedule more time as you will have many truly memorable memories making for a remarkable holiday.

The city is world renowned and has so many great sites to see. If you are fortunate enough to visit Paris there are three must see attractions. Once you have ticked them off your to do list there is still so much more.

This great city is noteworthy for its wonderful gothic inspired buildings and street markets; the Eiffel Tower, the Arc de Triomphe and the Louvre are the places you must see. Traveling around Paris is relatively easy for visitors as well as locals; there is an excellent underground system called the Metro which runs regular trains into the city center and is very easy to understand.

It wouldn't be possible to visit this city without a trip to the top of the famous steel structure known as the Eiffel Tower; there are only a few places in the city where it isn't visible. In the evening the illumination means it can be seen for many miles; taking a tour at the same time will teach you much more about this remarkable structure.

The famous 19th century edifice built on Napoleons instructions, the Arc de Triomphe, is also in Paris. The names of his generals engraved upon it to honor them and his troops. Although not generally well known, the Arc had an observatory installed after it was constructed to provide views of neighboring areas; it stands in the place where the city's main avenues begin including the Champs Elysees. Make sure you take the time to visit the top as the view is spectacular.

After your visit to the Arc de Triomphe you should take time for a walk along the Champs Elysees is essential when you visit Paris; it will present you with many famous designer shops and good restaurants or if you are on a budget there is even McDonalds. This famous avenue is known as a more upmarket and busy region of the city. Here you will also find many of the five star Paris hotels. If they are out of your price range many more affordable hotels can be found not too far away. I found a very reasonable hotel just near the Notre Dame Cathedral.

If you are an art lover, or not you most likely will enjoy the Louvre, an absolutely must see museum. You can allow a day or two to view its in excess of 300,000 pieces of art. It is a collection which cannot be given justice if seen in a single visit. Visitors on short stays in Paris could easily be overwhelmed; some of the most important art collections in the world are here including Leonardo da Vinci's world famous Mona Lisa. The charisma of Paris has always made it a magnetic destination for many famous or aspiring artist, some of these include Monet and Picasso who very fortunately left some of their work here for all to enjoy.

You will not be at a loss for places to visit whilst in the city; there are plenty of others to keep you occupied but to make the most of your time, use one of the guided tours. It is fair to say that you won't see everything on a Paris short stay of two or even three day break; this article has not even discussed the topic of medieval castles and gothic churches which the city has in abundance.

The Eiffel Tower: Paris's Iron Lady and Symbol of Romance

Standing tall amidst the Parisian skyline, the Eiffel Tower, or as the French affectionately call it, "La Tour Eiffel," is more than just an architectural marvel; it's a symbol of love, art, and human ingenuity. Historical Echoes Constructed as the entrance arch for the 1889 World's Fair, which was held in Paris to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the French Revolution, the Eiffel Tower was initially met with skepticism by critics. They doubted its stability and criticized its design.
